MARCH THEME - RISE
We’ve all witnessed that one flower; the one that had sprung -- seemingly out of nowhere -- from a crevice, rock or concrete in search of the sun. It’s a familiar metaphor for blooming and surviving harsh conditions. Unlike inspirational quotes about strength and courage that are often attached to an image like that, the flower’s journey has less to do with bravery and more to do with the right soil conditions. They also exploit every little crack and space within their environment to spread their roots and wend their way toward the light.
When all the conditions are met, they rise, bloom and thrive. No amount of courage and strength matter to a seed without soil, water, nutrients and space to grow.
Humans are not flowers, but as living organisms we are summoned to rise toward the sun of our individual calling. The right conditions make this journey a little easier, whether the environment is inhospitable or welcoming.
As you navigate your way through this world, we hope yoga serves as your guide -- your water, nutrient and space -- so you can find the light through life’s cracks and spaces, and rise.
Yoga poses this month may emphasize grounding and lifting, like Anjaneyasana, Setu Bandha Sarvangasana or Ustrasana, among many others.
