Carl Tully
Carl was introduced to yoga by his parents at a young age and has maintained regular practice since then. His deeper journey into yoga began in 2016 when his job as an architect required him to travel weekly to Portland, OR, and spend the work week away from Seattle, his hometown. Searching for a way to mitigate the stresses of work and the separation from his family, Carl walked into the Yoga Pearl Studio. Immediately, Yoga Pearl became a respite where he regularly practiced Hatha and Vinyasa Flow. During that time, he also discovered his love for the art of Yin Yoga, which he practiced with Tracey Coleman, a former student of Paul and Suzee Grilley.
Inspired to teach, Carl began training in 2020 and completed his 250-hour yoga teacher training. In addition, he enrolled in a year-long intensive Iyengar practice under Richard Schachtel, director of The Center for Yoga of Seattle, who studied with BKS, Geeta, and Prashant Iyengar at their institute in Pune, India. The intensive Iyengar training taught Carl solid yoga principles: the asana fundamentals of form, posture, and alignment; how to effectively integrate the use of props to gently aid individuals in attaining the benefit of asanas; and the foundations of Pranayama breath practice.
Today, Carl weaves Mind, Body, and Breath into his classes with the intent to foster holistic health to those who practice with him. His classes artfully flow to build towards a peak and then gently descend into stillness with the hope that by the end of each session, you will have enjoyed a journey that leaves you feeling peacefully accomplished and ready to enjoy life.
Outside of class, you may see Carl working in his garden where he loves to use his yoga knowledge to guide movements that maintain a healthy body.
